“As I reflected upon the writing skills I obtained this past year, I was trying to trace them back to where I learned them. I soon realize that while I was trying to credit my writing skills to my 8th grade English teacher, I found that many of the skills I had actually learned while writing high school essays with Ms. Kathryne. “Deciding to meet with Mrs. Yoon [from Club Bulldog] to work on my Common Application Personal Statement essay, was the best decision I could have made during the entire college application process. It was only 6 days before the application due date when we had talked for the first time, briefly discussing the parts of my essay that needed improvement. I had many of English teachers who seemed to be knowledgeable about college essays tell me there was nothing wrong with my own, but after hearing Mrs. Yoon’s comments, it was apparent that I needed to change my essay if I desired to be admitted to my reach schools.
